High School Students Attend College For Summer

The Palomar College Upward Bound Summer Residential Component, SRC, is a three-week, intense academic program hosted by Palomar College at the University of San Diego.

SRC is designed to model the schedule of a four-year university with all of the materials and expectations.  For three weeks in July, 37 North County students  prepared for the SAT/PSAT. They dove into math skill building, learned guidelines for writing a personal statement, resumes and applying to universities.

The outcome of a strict academic format gave students a hard look into the summer theme,  “If I Plan to Learn, I Must Learn to Plan.” Students received a final report card with course grades and A-G requirement advising.

The Upward Bound Programs goal is to participate completely, showing academic advancement, and be responsible for successfully completing a four -year college education.

To learn more visit  www.palomar.edu/upwardbound or call Director Calvin One Deer Gavin at 760-744-1150.
